I am planning how to recover one of my hard drives after a virus infection. I was thinking about just formatting the drive, but I don't believe you can recover a drive from a recovery point after formatting it? Is it true the recovery point depends on modifying the existing contents of a drive?
Symantec says its recovery disk can do a virus scan before recovery, but I do not trust that disk to be reliable, heck I've had 2 pc infections with computers protected by norton antivirus.
I'm thinking it would be best just to mirror the disk and use the mirror as a replacement in the future? The drive I am working on has some critical programs that can't be reloaded.
