Quake 4 question

OK i just bought Quake 4
when i play it then wuit a game my moniter in windows will be super bright
i check all the settings on my video card and moniter and they havent cahged
but when i restart my computer everything is normal

is this supposed to happen? does it happpen to neone else who plays this awesome game

Your monitor in windows is super bright? Is there any other way to describe it? My quake 4 runs fine.... any screenshot? Wait... I think I might know what you mean... you meant "quit". Ok... you leave quake 4 and the desktop is brighter than normal. Yeah, I get that too. But it should revert back to the orignal setting.
