Well to be honest your using 2 of the worst programs out there (AOhell and norton) :) Have you tried disabling your firewall (including the windows one if you have it running) what happens then?

What is FF? Firefox?

I know a while ago I tried playing around with AOL to create a connection without the software, and for me one computer always had to initialize the connection (After that many computers could connect however)

Yeah FF is firefox, if you get in touch with AOL and ask them to give you the standard router settings they use, and then you should connect fine. Ive been doing this for years now and never had a problem. I might have them somewhere but im pretty sure that the UK uses different settings
