Virtualization Explained

Intel and AMD's new virtualization technology
http://www.answers.com/topic/virtualization-technology

I'm new to the Apple Mac/OS X scene too- ive been doin a lot of research cuz ive finally got myself a job and i'm hopin to spend my first wage packets on a Mac Book.

OS X Leopard will have the final version of "Boot Camp"- so i'm mainly hoping to just install windows xp (vista might be out at that time but i won't be able to afford it!- n e one know exactly how much it'll cost?). But is virtualization really that any different? It wud be cool to swtich simualtaneously between each OS but not if it eats up the memory?

Also when is Leopard due for release? I know the preview is in August but nothin more. There's no point in n e one buyin a mac with tiger if they'll come out with leopard say 1 month later. (thats why i wanna find out if n e one duz)

Yes, if all goes to plan (since Merom supports virtualisation) as does Leopard (which will support virtualisation) you will be able to switch between Mac OSX and Windows XP (and eventually, Vista) just as you could switch between users on Mac OSX. Notice how Merom and Leopard are due out at nearly the exact same time? [August-November] There was a reason for it ...

Funny how that works? Apple is like Intel's new "toy" :-\

Here's a necro-post, but I had to post this.

Parallels = virtualization? o rly?

P.S. w00t

I thought about blurring it out, but that would be less dignified then leaving it. :p

Reason I have Fedora is because I had to have a "running copy of Fedora" for a class I'm taking. :(
