maybe f8 isn't the key to use to access your safe mode, can you give us any detail on your pc, brand of vid card etc?
any details at all ?

Edit: Could you also tell us what the beep code is ? . as in .. three long or one short three long etc and if possible m/board brand?

the beep seems to just repeat itself and it doesn't stop.

i think that the video card might be dead. My computer is quite old, the video card is genoa and i think that the motherboard is aswell. I will try and find out some more details if they would be of help to you

depending on what your bios is it can be anything from dead m/board, bad memory, to dead gfx card.

Hopefully we can reach a satisfactory resolution but as you have stated "My computer is quite old, the video card is genoa and i think that the motherboard is aswell" I feel you may be facing a terminal error here.
