So I wanna try Linux because i'm going to school for computer science. i need a Linux distro that can help me with that but also some what user friednly? anyone know of a good one?

Ubuntu is often recommended for beginners and would be a good choice.

Personally I recommend Linux Mint. IMO it's much more friendly to use than Ubuntu, especially for those learning. Ubuntu really isn't your typical distribution, since they're moving away from classic Linux interfaces.

Mint 14 Cinnamon would be my recommendation. I run it on my desktop and my at home server
