laptop help asap

hi guys im looking to buy a used/broke laptop and i was wondering if some of u might no the problem to it, here is how the guy explains it

SOMETIMES YOU GET A PICTURE AND SOMETIMES NOT.WHEN YOU FIRST TURN IT ON,IF YOU DISCONNECT BATTERY,THEN RECONNECT IT WILL WORK FINE FOR AWHILE.

would it be a motherboard problem or a graphic card ?

To me it sounds like could be any, ranging anywhere from GFX card probs to faulty connections (if he opened it and stuff). Might cost you more to repair it and troubleshoot for the troublesome part than actually saving for a new 1.

its a dell xps m170, is there anyway that he can test to see if the graphic card is any good on those types of computers

I agree with Jo. it could one of many problems. You have a good chance of breaking it before it's fixed.

That's the best option, as the problems can vary and you're not totally sure what the seller has done to it. Also with saving some cash, I'm pretty sure you can get a laptop to fit your needs .
