Internet Explorer clogs up... need help

I have windows xp pro on my laptop and for the last month or so I have been having this problem.

After random browsing after a period of time. The next link I click on will bring up a window and not show any content. At the very top of the window there will be a windows logo but nothing loading up. Then no links will load up, my windows explorer wont load up. If I try to access any folders then they will show empty or weird icons in them. If I try to access the task manager, the applications and process screen is in a very small window and I cant select anything. Eventually nothing on my laptop will work. I end up powering it off and then it works fine. Anyone have any idea what this is and how to fix it?

I've used ad aware, Antivir, zone alarm, and spybot but nothing seems to find anything.

go to start, run, type msconfig, go to startup, click disable all but recheck your antivirus and reboot.

Tried that and it still does it.
