I had a friend of mine ask me to look at his laptop (Vista) because of an issue he's been having. I have spent over 3 hours trying to figure this out. It's a very queer situation.
Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safaria, and Chrome cannot connect to the internet at all; they are immediately denied connection.
Booting in Safe Mode w/ networking allows all of the aforementioned browsers to connect perfectly fine.
Pinging any domain yields positive results.
AIM will not connect.
When I booted in Safe Mode w/ networking, I downloaded Malwarebytes, updated it and ran a scan. It found 1 Trojan and removed it, but that wasn't the issue. I have reset the Winsock and flushed the DNS. I searched and looked at similar issues, but most of them are from years ago (around 2005).
Any ideas?
