I don't know that total removal of IE is possible. In Explorer turns into IE when a remote address is entered.

It also isnt possible to view all pages in FireFox. You still need IE for Windows Updates. There are some more pages that cant be viewed by FireFopx that you will need to view in IE. So I wouldn't suggest taking it off the computer or you wont be able to do everything you want.
