WD60gig HD
windows xp pro
sw1 switch set to auto which says in book that its capable of
266/333fsb which is strange because MB info say up to 400fsb why is there no option for that and is it something in the bios im missing could you let me know how to fix
also i installed direct.x 9 and still showing 8 on bench test..and yes cpuid test and pc2002bench test both read the same
i have agp 8x on MB and vid card but it reads off and i was told thats not possible if vid is running.. games are great UT2004 is fine biowares neverwinter nights is fine so the card is working at 8x right??? how else would i be able to play.. same with 9x and 8x problem UT2004 says it needs 9x to play and i play it fine my main concern is the fsb problem but any help of any kind would be nice oh yeah ive updated at windows and it leaves 1 item off update (xp1 service pack) i have oem software from computer shop in town i got disk and code that work to install but when dl of xp1 pack it asks for ver.#s and stops then says ver.# is all used up(i think thats the oem part) fails to load why would it do that is that my problem:( :( :( :(

thanx P.L.

166x2 = 333 fsb.

If it were operating at 266fsb you'd see the boards fsb at 133. You'll see in your bios that you can change the speed of your fsb when you have sw1 set to auto. Try it. Go into bios and look at the numbers it gives you. The highest is 166 because 166x2 = 333 fsb. If you wanted to run it at 400fsb you'd have to change sw1 (if i remember correctly) to off (instead of auto). When its set to off it runs at either 100 or 200fsb(x2). When it's set to auto it runs at 133(x2) or 166(x2).

Don't know what's wrong with your agp card. Could it be the program you're using to check it with? I installed a plain agp card onto the same board and it's fine, and i also installed directx 9 and it's fine.

those are physical front side bus which is than double pumped by your DDR memory. this means your 166Mhz FSB processor is actually double pumped to a 333Mhz effective FSB. your 200Mhz memory physical FSB is running an effective 400Mhz FSB. nothing is wrong with your settings.

i am having a similar problem as this, but when i switch it to 200fsb upon reboot my video goes out. meaning when i reboot my monitor switches to 'no sync input'

once i reset bios video comes back and i can only select 166fsb.

any ideas as to why this is, or what i can do to remedy it

solved it, its on auto select so i cant select 200mhz.(200*2) i can only select 166 until i take the time to open her up and take it off auto. thanks for the help though.

Well 200*2 is overclocking the CPU, if you go to that speed you have a decent chance of frying alot of crap
