This sounds like a cool gadget. I may have to buy one when the price comes down. My son rents lots of games and I can't count the number of times we have had to go back and exchange because it was too scratched to play. I suspect people swap out their own personal copy that is in bad shape for the Blockbuster copy which may be better since there is no additional label on it.

The $250 dollar version is pretty cool, I might get one once it comes down, too. I've got a SkipDr right now, it's okay but it takes forever and it's only good for light-medium scratches, usually not much more.
