Hi.

My Internet connection has no Reverse DNS.
How can I make (force) it, to have it?
I'm connected over LAN.

Thank you.

how do you mean there is no reverse lookup?

if someone (outside of your home) type nslookup [ipaddress] what do they see?

for me they would see
host[oct1]-[oct2]-[oct3]-[oct4].in-addr@btopenworld.com because my connection is with BT.

Look at this :

>ping google.com

Pinging google.com [216.239.39.99] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.168.10.1: Destination port unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.10.1: Destination port unreachable.

192.168.10.1 is a gateway (router).

Whatever I ping, destination port is unreachable.
I can't connect to IRC, not to P2P networks, can't download with bit torrents. But other's fine.

OK. Here's what I found out.
It's not possible to establish a connection on a *strange* port with the local (network card) IP. But it is with the looopback IP (127.0.0.1).

Let me explain with an example :

1.
I can use MSN Messenger. For the local IP it uses 127.0.0.1 and for the remote one, just one with a strange port. So it works fine.

2.
IRC. It uses a network card local IP (192.168.10.30 !), not the loopback address 127.0.0.1 . The remote one is just one IRC server (for example 213.143.66.30:6667). And it does not work : >>Network is unreachable<<.

So my finding is, that programs, that do not act like a server (like MSN Messenger) work, and programs that DO act like a server, don't.

What can I do? I'm REALLY stuck now.
PLEASE help.
