well were gonna be getting directv and were gonna be getting wildblue satellite internet yes i know it suxs but i would rather have that than the slow DSL i have now and was wondering how reliable it because were i live i cant get cable internet do its satellite or slow DSL and i also heard the HD tv helps the reception on satellite internet is that true?

and can someone convert 1.5mbps into kB/s please and thanksi n advance

1.5 Mb is 1500 Kb

One of my friends used to have Direct PC years ago. His complaints with it were that the upstream speeds were TERRIBLE, but downloads were pretty good. Overcast days didn't seem to effect it too terribly, but in electrical storms, his service would USUALLY be un-usable.

In terms of internet connection speed, 1.5mbps probably means 1.5 Mega BITS per second, so you'll get about 185kilobytes per second.

And from what I hear, satellite internet is crap for reliability generally, regardless of the service provider.

1.5Mbps = 1536Kbps = 192KB/s
For comparison, my internet is 3Mbps = 3072Kbps = 384KB/s

1.5 x 2 = 3Mbps
192 x 2 = 384KB/s

(1Mbps = 1024Kbps = 128KB/s)

I had earthlink once. They screwed me royally. They may be lots better now, but I had a bad experience with them. Good luck.
