asus z170-a SLI and bridge

Hey everyone, just bought a second evga 980 ti and its on its way. I have my 1st graphics card in the first top pcie slot, and dont know if i should put the second graphics card on the second slot or third slot. I checked the manual, and it doesnt say. I would like to put it on the third slot for the spacing.
And for the sli bridge, i know i have to get one that matches which slots I have them in.

It's meant to go in the second PCI-E slot. Your board should have came with the properly spaced bridge for it.

Thanks. Yes it did, but i noticed that mine is like the one on the right, just not as long, whereas the aftermarket ones come like the one on the left.

The only bridges that are technically different are the high bandwidth bridges that only make a difference on the 10 series and 4K/higher resolutions. The rest are all the same minus cosmetics.
