Wireless connection stopping

I connect through the internet from the computer in my room through a wireless usb adapter into our router which connects to the dsl modem in another room. My signal strength is perfect and i have all the drivers for my computer.
I've noticed however that when i download anything my connection just stops... it says i have full connection but the download and everything stops. if i refresh or restart the dl it starts working again but it always freezes before i can ever get any dling done. Has anyone else had this problem. If so i would reallly like some help b/c no one else knows how to fix it.

Windows Xp
Linksys is the router and adapter.
Its wireless b if that makes a difference

never heard of that problem before. I have a few questions

-Are all your drivers the most up to date?
-router firmaware up to date?
-Can you stream in the media player at the same time you are downloading and when the downloading freezes does the media player keep playing?
-what changed in your configuration since downloading worked?
