Windows 8 freezes up

Any other entries in Event Viewer around the times when the freezing happens?

I did not see any others. However, the next time the system hung up, I quickly tried to open task manager and noticed google chrome was using an immense amount of cpu and disk space. So I switched over to firefox and the problem has not happened yet. Kind of strange dont you think?

Do you have a lot of extensions, or any extensions at all in Chrome?

Have you tried uninstalling Chrome / removing all leftover traces of it, and then reinstalled it?

No extensions at all. I have not tried reinstalling it, should I try it?

Edit: Well it turns out it didnt work. It just did it again except this time the screen went black, but again I was still able to move my mouse around.

Sorry I have been really busy lately, haven't had time to mess with it at all. But im pretty sure its not chrome because I tried firefox and it did the same thing. Im Going to give you all the errors and warnings I get.

Event ID 153 Source disk
Event ID 129 amsdata
Event ID 10010 source DistributedCOM
Event ID 7011 Service control manager
Event ID 219 Kernal-PnP
Event ID 1003 APXACC
Event ID 7000 Service control manager

Those are all the errors and warnings that show up. Still the most frequent is the amsdata 129
