MrCoffee Fully Optimized Messages 1,858 Location UK Sep 2, 2006 #9 Ok I recon you're currently infected with some sort of virus which is terminating the processes as soon as you launch them. http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ToolsQuit.htm Creates usable copies of REGEDIT, MSCONFIG and Task Manager http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_emerutils.htm get some decent virus scans, the kaspersky 6 trial is good and so is ewido. post us a hijackthis log when you're done

Alvin.C Fully Optimized Messages 2,581 Location London Sep 2, 2006 #10 Hello, Go to the directory c:\windows\system32\ and in this directory, search for the following files with the .com file extension, not .exe : [*]cmd.com [*]regedt32.com If these .com files exist in that directory, delete them. After you've deleted them, try regedit and cmd in run again. Also, can you run taskmgr work too at run?
