which pc has direct access, when you share internet

got 2 pc connected via a router to share the internet connection.

i can access the net using both pc. thing is i don't know which one has direct access to the net. how to find out it.

both pc windows xp sp2

it depends where the internet connection is plugged into...

1. If one of your computers hosts the internet connection, then that is the one that has direct acess

2. If your router has the internet line, then both computers receive the connection through the gateway (therefore not direct)

there is a cable from router to the modem and modem is connected to the phone line.

there is a cable to router from each pc
