My system hangs randomly, including during the bios bootup. I tested the memory and with bootable mem tester cd. Said it was perfectly fine. It got so bad that we couldn't get pass for the bios bootup 90% of the time. Anyways I managed to flash the bios with a new update. System stay stable for a little longer, but not much, Can make it into xp.
System is
MSI K7T-266 pro2
AMD 1400xp
512MB of Kingmax memory (I think, bought this stuff 5 years ago)
Nvidia Fx5200 AGP
I am thinking its the board, the onboard audio kinda works sometimes. usually only left speaker. So I put in a SB audigy and use that. Unfortunately from time to time will get high pitch random noises that try to deafen me.
Also this board had problems with a Geforce440MX previously, half the time when I would reboot or start the computer, it would give the no-video card beep of death over the pc speaker or show good old ascii characters that resembled my old BBS title message and just sit there. Sometimes it would take 10 reboots to get a successful one
Anyways guys, we are on a very limited budget here and wondering if I should chance getting a new Socket A/462 board?
Any chance CPU is dieing?
