simple help needed regarding wireless internet.....please.

i have just started in a new lab office and there are ethernet sockets on the wall for the internet. Is it possible for me to turn this into a wireless connection somehow?

Also, if it is, what is the maximum range i would have?

ps-would it be portable? ie i could unplug it and move into the lab down the hall.

you can buy a wireless router.

They cost about $30+ and have 80FT range, at least.
Also, each PC must have a wireless card.
