router help plz

hello everybody im just wondering if i could get some help with my router.

im just curious how i set it up and configure it. i am going to be using two computers, with a cable modem.

the router is a linkskys model: BEFSR41

im running on windows xp

if any other info is needed let me know

you need to get into your routers firmwear you do this by setting up your router then in your web browser type 192.168.1.1 you will be prompted for a password the default for linksys is admin after that its pretty self explanitory

yeh and dotn forget to leave user field blank...if its a second hand router you should use the reset button on the back to reset all your info.

ok i did that and got passed the password part, but after that there are a bunch of tabs with settings....and i can click apply or cancel...i clicked apply on all of them, but i dont know what to do after that...would i might have to upgrade the firmware for it to work

Are you using DSL or cable? Have you connected the modem to the router yet?
