PS3 on a monitor help

I'm looking into a PS3 as soon as I get the money, and I was wondering how I could get it to play on my monitor. I have a 19" (not widescreen) Samsung 920N monitor with VGA input. It would be nice if I could get a 720p image or something like that, but I'm not sure if I can do that over VGA. If I can't then whatever, just want to know if I can play it over the monitor. Also, if I did want to play on the HDTV what cables would I need to buy? Thanks for any help.

If you wanted to play on an hdtv, you will need either an HDMI (better) or component if your tv does not have an HDCP complient HDMI port. For the Monitor, I'm not sure but theres a bunch of topics in these forums regarding all different types of connections.
