Problems accessing one particular site-everything else works fine

Hi,

I encountered a strange problem. I could access a site (www.bus.miami.edu) from work on my laptop. But I can't access it from home on the same laptop. I tried it on both IE and Firefox with no luck. Any idea what might be going on?

My ISP helpdesk could not figure this out.

What OS, do you have all updates installed? Are you using dialup or broadband or cable? Dialup might take a while to load up unlike broadband. I visited the site, it came up but only after a few seconds of loading and I'm using BB.

Are you using a proxy server? Disable it.

Some ISP's will block certain domains (whether intentional or not). Since that is the one thing that seems to be changing for sure, you may want to report it to your ISP from home.

I noticed the web site you mentioned uses a redirector.
try: http://www.sb07.bus.miami.edu
If this works, flush your DNS cache (when at home)
start|run|cmd|ipconfig /flushdns

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm using a broadband connection.

Our ISP helpdesk didn't really have a good answer. They finally suggested replacing our cable modem. I haven't gotten around to doing that yet.

The redirected address does get displayed in the address bar. So the redirect kinda works but the site doesn't.
