opteron or athlon? which is better?

I have a athlon x2 right now and I was debating going up to the operton, it has a bigger core, but is there any other differences. I use my pc for everything from encoding to playing games.

Well from what i've heard Opterons overclock further than Athlon X2's and any dual core opteron has double the L2 cache as your Athlon X2 3800+. but its up to you and how much your willing to spend cause if you can you should get a dual core opteron.

opteron has better silicon, can reach higher speeds (4400+ can only get to 2.6-2.7ghz), and is virtually the same core as the Athlon

but with a large cache eh? no other differences?
