Oculus Rift

Listen to what you're saying, kman.

it reads like a company press release.

But it's all true ?

kmanmx you don't need to justify your purchase to us. And you're not going to convince anymore to preorder it. I think its funny though that you think people should spend $600, wait months for the product to arrive, to resell a controller and headphones as a way of lowering the overall price. What a hassle

VR is not proven yet. No one sensible is preordering the Oculus today.

Im not justifying it, or trying to convince people to buy it. I'm trying to explain why $599 is reasonable for what you're getting.

I never thought I'd be one to say it, but there's so much blind fanboyism here it's a bit scary

I actually prefer the Vive, so how about that ?

I've followed VR everyday and read thousands of articles, interviews, and technical pieces on it. It is the complete opposite of blind fanboyism. Everything I am saying is fact, if you don't like what i'm saying, go and read it in someone elses words. But they will tell you the same thing.

Personally, I agree with everything you are saying. It is an amazing piece of technology and the components in it are high end. You definitely are getting what you pay for even with the $600 price tag. The problem with a price that steep is that it is unproven technology in that nobody knows if it will catch on or if it will be like the 3D TVs of late.

Sure, 600 dollars is a hard hard sell for technology in its infancy. For those skeptical, best get PSVR. The PS4 is cheap and PSVR will probably be 100 to 200 bucks cheaper too.

It's certainly not going to sell too well at $599. I think for Gen1 they just wanted to make the best possible VR headset despite the price. I'm not sure if that's the right move to make in terms of creating a market, but who knows.

Okay, not fanboyism.
Obsession.

Well that I can agree with. But it still doesn't make me wrong!

Like my description says. Virtual Reality Nut! through and through, no denying, I will probably die with a VR headset on. BUT, I do my best to spread accurate information and educate people on the truth.

I am being serious when I say this, but I think it was a pretty huge mistake for them to block porn on the thing. That could have been a HUGE market for them.

I liked the point comparing the Rift to a top-of-the-line monitor - You can easily spend 500-800$ on a 27" 144hz 1440p monitor. I already have about that much invested in my monitors now. But I tell you - I would never have bought these beasts if I had not seen them in action. I think VR will be a lot like that for me. Until i love what i see, and know that it will work with games I play, it is nowhere near worth 600$ to me. Because of the March release date, I'm thinking this will be a summer consideration. Give it the test of time, read reviews, watch previews and streamers using it, and I will use that information to make a decision.

absolutely look what Made VHS, and Blu Ray stick around im pretty sure that's part of the reason HDDVD didnt get backing liek It may have. The 1st VR comapny that allows it will be the one that sticks around

I totally forgot about that! Yeah, they may want to reconsider their position on that.
