good to see you got it sorted. but why did some people say it was the hard drive?
if it was the hard drive, Windows would have problems putting stuff on the disk. it only bluescreened after he did install it

for the headphones, there should be somewhere to calibrate them, and set all the volumes. in the games, maybe they are just not set for 5.1 or something.

nope they are but the rear nd front speakers are really weak, only the center is good
