Hi guyss how are you ??
well a problem i m facing is due to my n00bish behaviour and please help me sort it out and i am **** sure anyone using a simple device called Wireless router can very well sort it out.
As simple as that i need to run wifi at my friend's office thru Netgear's WGR614.
Here is the deal ::
They have a RADIO LINK fixed on the terrace, earlier they used to access thru wires with the ip as follows on their specific Computers ::
10.20.12.161
255.255.255.240
and so on ..
so there is switch thru which 4 computers are connected.
Now i wanna put a ROuter after that Switch so that i can also able to run wifi on the laptop which has inbuilt WiFi card. the
laptop make is HP and model no. is nx6110, its celeron.
So here is how i made the connections...
1) took a straight cable from switch to Routers Internet port.
only the power light was green and internet light was green but the wireless LED wasnt even blinking or glowing. so this gave me an alarm.
2) i tried to connect thru a straight over cable without internet cable from laptop's ethernet card to Wireless router's one LAN port (outta 4).
and i tried to put http://192.168.1.1 to access router but it jus did not ...
i came back home now i gave it a thought that i had the same IPs on the LAN card those with the range (10.20.12.161).. so I
guess i need to chnage the router's IP ..
can u guyss suggest me the proper way ?? cause here in india netgear doesnt have any phone line techinical support..
i guess i shall put ips in the following fashion..
192.168.1.10
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1
Do i need to put DNS too ??
also i need to specify 10.20.12.161 ips somewhere to access that radio link as its intranet.. So shall i put it somewhere in router settings when i will be able to access it thru http://192.168.1.1 ??
Please help me..
thanks in advance ..
Here is the fashion of connections, those arrows represent cables and that too straight cable, do i need a cross over cable anywhere around ?? i doubt between Switch & router ??
