Need more RAM?

Hello, when I use Movie Maker to make DVDs from our home movie MiniDVs, my CPU goes to 100% the majority of the time causing lots of lagging. This only happens with Movie Maker, no other application.

1. Would 1G of RAM cure this?

2. Or is my CPU too slow?

3. Any other suggestions?

memory is not the problem.


what speed is your processor? do you have multiprocessor support?

speedier processor wont help either, the program will use whatever is there

open task manager and find that app, then right click, and set its priority to the lowest setting

windows' kernel task scheduler leaves much to be desired, it doesnt handle loads well at all, never has

Windows Movie Maker doesn't lag on my PC, but yes, the task manager is at 100%. And i have the exact same processor as you, half the RAM.

CPU is 2.8GHz. If I set Windows Movie Maker to lowest priority on task mgr, wouldnt that slow things down even more?

my intel Celeron D Processor 325 ( 2.53GHz ) the CPU usage when opening Windows movie maker goes up from under 10% to 43% thats on mine anyway with 768MB Ram
