Need help hooking a computer up to a tv

I just purchased a new computer. I have a Geforce 6800 GT and I am trying to use a DVI cable to run from the video card to the LCD T.V. My motherboard is the MSI NEO2 Platinum and when I turn the computer on and tv, I am getting no picture, not even with an S-Video Cable. Can someone please help me figure out what the problem is?

is your video card a VIVO? (Video in-Video out) if you don't know, look on the box, it will say on the outside if it is.

if you have video in then connect your cable directly to the video card along with the standard lcd connector to the card and problem solved, if not try some software updates http://www.nvidia.com/page/software.html

right click in the middle of display, select properties, click settings, click advance find the nvidia setting and go to device setting and set the output to tv

I'm having an issue with the connection to the tv if anyone can help, using a GEForce fx5500 and s-video to tv.

I'm noticing a lot of horizontal "waves" that roll from the bottom to the top of the tv screen while watching pc movie via s video cable. Is this just something typical with s video or is there a solution to removing those waves?

that is usually a sign of a failing card.

do you have the ntsc/ pal setting correct?
