So my buddy got some sort of malware or virus on his computer.....norton doesn't pick anything up and malware bytes won't run....I tried doing the special mode where it's suppose to remove it but that didn't work...what should we do now....
 
Downloaded superantispyware.....found a virus and claimed it removed it...how do I know if the computer is clean for sure...
 
Does MBAM run yet?

Also... ditch Norton. Replace it with Avira, Avast, or BitDefender Free. If he insists on getting a paid antivirus...then Kaspersky, Eset, or BitDefender paid are all good choices.

After you're able to run a scan with MBAM (make sure its definitions are updated), run it and delete anything it finds.

After that, get HiJackThis from sourceforge: HiJackThis | Free software downloads at SourceForge.net. Run it and post the log here, but do not delete anything unless we tell you to.
 
Well what do you mean by "not running" ? Does give throw an error when it launches? Does it never pop up?

Are you running these scans in Safe Mode or Normal mode? You should be running them in Safe Mode.
 
I did it in normal mode......an error pops up saying malware bytes stopped working...it's weird because it's saying the same thing on my computer....
 
Try running in Safe Mode.

If it still doesn't work, uninstall it, download it again from their site, and reinstall it / update it. Go back into Safe Mode (or do this from Safe Mode with Networking) and try to open it.
 
Ran in safe mode...as I reinstalled malware bytes I received an internal error/runtime error (at 79.177).....it ended up installing but still doesn't run...
