I installed a linksys wrt54g router in our office.

My computer is connected directly to the router
4 computers are connected to the hub then connected to the router
2 wireless laptop

My question is
If I configure the MAC Address Filtering, it can only detect the 2 wireless laptop's MAC Address. I couldn't detect the MAC Address of the wired computers?

The wired PC's will not be affected by the MAC address filtering.

I don't know the mac address of the other computers.

How do I detect their mac address?
It automatically detected the mac address of the 2 laptops that's why I could put them into the list.

Ok. Does MAC Address Filtering are for wireless only?

How can I make my router more secure?

Yes, that's what I said. Any wired client can connect.

That's because in a wired situation, you dont need to connect to the router in order to get network access.

Usually mac address filtering is a switch operation. Now, your router has a built in switch (4 ports probably) so if firmware supports it you should be able to filter wired pc's. See if your router has a command line access. Usually there is more options from command line, but if your router's firmware doesn't support wired mac filtering then you're out of luck

mac filtering is already secured

just add wep or wap for more security

What do you mean by wep and wap?

WEP: Wired Equivalent Privacy

WPA: Wi-Fi Protected Access

WAP: Wireless Application Protocol

you supply a password or network key
and only the wireless computers with the password can go on your router
