Is it possible to tether into a windows 8 tablet from a windows 7 laptop? Hey guys. I have a Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet that has the ability to connect to the internet over the cell phone network using an built in air time card. The tablet runs windows 8 32-bit. I also have a laptop computer with me that I would like to tether into the tablet and use the cell phone network internet through the tablet into the laptop. The laptop uses windows 7 64-bit. Would this tethering situation be possible? What kind of cable would I need? Could I use a male to male usb cable? What kind of software would I need to get this to work? Where can I find this software? Are there any free options? I have tethered into android smart phones before on the laptop and it has worked great for internet, the software I used for that was called PDA Net. But I have been given this Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet and would like to know if that could be tethered into from the laptop. I was under the impression that PDA Net only works for smart phones running the android operating system, but does it also work on tablets running full versions of windows 8 32-bit? Thank you for all replies. I appreciate you guys helping me. Thanks again.

Very grateful for the link you shared with me, seems to have alot of useful information about sharing the connections on windows 8 - I will be using this tomorrow and will follow up on my success. Again thanks

Thank you so much for helping me. I was finally able to get it to work by creating a wifi hotspot and sharing the cellular internet connection over wifi with my laptop. It works very well and was actually much easier than I thought it was going to be. Basically I went into the network settings and flipped 1 switch called Connection Sharing and turned it to "on". It then automatically provided me with a network name and password. I opened up the wifi browser on my laptop and found the wifi network and connected to it and put it the password, and it worked great. Again thanks. I never knew how to do this until you helped me.

Glad you got it working! I don't have a tablet with built-in internet capability so I use my smartphone to create a wifi hotspot then connect to that hotspot with my tablet or laptop.
