Icon wont go away from system tray!

The "local area connection" icon, (one with 2 blue screens) i keep right clicking on taskbar and going to customize and setting the icon to "always hide" but it comes back after a reset, is there anyway of making this icon go away for good because its annoying me now

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Could you post a screen shot?

Go to Control Panel/Network Connection, right click on the network card and select Properties. Now you'll see two setting, something about "notify me" when the connection is on and when there's no connectivity. Uncheck one of them, not sure which one is which right now.
