how do i fix this slow down? multiple pc

symthom:

note:
- 3 computers, 1 ps3
- cable broadband connection
- wired, all connect through ethernet line on 1 router

symthom:
- when pc1 stream youtube... makes other pcs slow a bit
- when ps3 download demos... makes pc2 that play online game slow
- when pc3 download huge file... makes it extremely slow for ps3 to download super hot christina lee.. takes 50min-200min
- at random times when none of pcs do anything... when download new ep of super hot christina lee still takes 50min-200min... then unplug/replug router and modem..... back to normal speed... only took 5min and can stream without stuck at buffering.

What is your connection speed? If your bandwidth is low it won't take much to suck it all up.

Have you tried rebooting your modem and router?

buffalo something. will look at it soon.

connection speed is i think 1mb or 2mb. cox.

rebooting? like pressing something on router? well i usualy reboot by unplug/replug. i have tried pressing before but now i just replug/unplug. no idea if pressing work or not, dont remember.

Won't take much at only 2mb, is that Cox's "Lite" version of a connection? That isn't much bandwidth.

i never knew lite exist.... so i think its not lite then.

what you mean wont take much at only 2mb? do you mean its normal for it to slow when multiple pc/ps3 connect through same internet? im wondering that too but its weird cause at rare time when other pcs dont do anything yet slow.

Reboot = unplug them for about 30 seconds, then plug them back in. Both your router and modem are very simple computers and all computers eventually need to be rebooted to allow them to get everything back into shape.

This fix should always be the first step, and it takes care of many problems with a connection just by itself.

Yes it's normal... You have 2000bytes for 3 computers and a ps3. So, thats 500 per comp. But its usually not that nicely divided.

Computers will randomly update themselves, so will youre not oin it, it can still be esating up bandwidth.
