Help: Using a crossover cable as a regular patch cable.

Turns out the some of the ports on my router actually do crossover correction. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks Ethereal_Dragon, if I had a crimper and some connectors I would definitely go that route but as things stand now I'm lacking tools and pieces.

I don't think my (shitty SpeedStream 6300) router has that type of correction built in.

I was hoping for a client side software solution here but looks like im out of luck. I guess noone has ever bothered to write something like this as its easier to get the right cable.

2nd page... under MEDIA INTERFACE, it shows that it does support Auto MDI/MDIX

tag..) I did however google the spec sheet and found what you're talking about. Thanks for pointing it out, i wasnt aware thats what Auto MDI/MDIX meant.

I will make this as clear as possible you CANNOT use a crossover cable as a patch cable. Yes you can splice and rewire the cable according to this ---> http://www.bluemax.net/techtips/networking/Wiring_Tips/Wiring100TX/colorcodestandards.htm <--- wiring diagram, but do not attempt to use the crossover cable as a patch cable.
