Firefox 3 Final out!

See that is why this record will not be valid. Calc you will download from the same IP to 3 different PC's. So that will coutn as 3 downloads even though it will truly be only 1 unique download to your IP.

That is hy Firefox's numbers are so inflated. They do not count unique IP's. They just count the number of times someone clicks the download button. That causes a inflated number. Not a true count of how many people actually downloaded it.

That is what infuriates me about Mozilla. They clamin to have all these users when in fact it is people like me who have downloaded the app a dozen times to the same PC cause of formats. That is why i refuse to help them inflate a already invalid number.

Sorry for the rant but that is the truth. They dont count unique downloads just a total. Which to me is bogus cause 1 person and sit there and download it all day or write a script to downlaod it all day and it will count for the numbers.

Yes this has been discussed many times among several people i know. Even a avid Firefox user admits to knowing this. It just counts clicks. I have no problem using Firefox. I have no problem with people promoting it. But for Mozilla to claim some of the stuff they do about Firefox is what gets me. Yeah it will be the most downloaded app in 24 hours cause they will have their developers sit there and download it for a day straight and get paid for it and have every one of them count.

Meh. I ramble. But it is not unique downloads. It never was. They just count clicks.

Using it right now, it's nice, but I don't see an incredibly huge difference from FF2. The menu user interface looks different, the drop-down list of previous URL's has the site title and icon, but it renders pages the same (I tried a MySpace page that actually took LONGER to render than it did in FF2 by a long time, maybe it was building a cache or something though). Maybe it renders pages faster, but FF2 ran so fast on my T9300 that I don't notice any difference, maybe I'll notice something when I try it on my Pentium 3 or Sempron machines.

There are lots of changes between the two, actually. Check out the article Osiris linked to in the "Firefox 3 Field Guild" post in Tips and Tricks. I didn't realize just how much they packed into it...

Windows version : http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=win&lang=en-US
Linux version : http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=linux&lang=en-US

They are so dumbs in the mozilla org. They should have rented some servers as over one million would download Firefox 3 within the first day of its release anyways. However I will help them with their record whenever the site is up again.

what is ftp? sorry i'm a noob....

FTP or File Transfer Protocol is a protocol with which you can share files fast and starts with "ftp://". It is something like "http://" (hypertext transfer protocol) which is for webpages. Google it for further info...
