file transfer

Hi, im using Vista on two computers and have mapped a network drive on 1 of the computers. Im trying to transfer some files from 1 pc to the other but every time i start it the internet disconnects.
When i use the file transfer in vnc viewer it works fine and i dont get disconnected so i duno wat the problem is.

btw im using Netgear DG834N router

Could be a Vista bug maybe. Your LAN file transfer should not be affected if you lose Internet connection. How are these computers connected to the modem/router? I do not think it has anything to do with the Netgear device, more in the line of the OS.

When you get disconnected, can you still ping the default gateway (the ip address of your router)? I think it's likely a problem with Vista if VNC works properly. I've heard there's still some bug needed to be resolved in Vista.
