Fax question

In rare occasions I am asked if I have a fax which is not the case since I
deal most of the time via e-mails.
I am connected to the Internet via High Speed ( DSL )
If I were to install a fax modem on my computer could I receive a fax on
my computer ?
Or do faxes only work with dial up connections ?

answering question normal faxing usually only works with dial up.

they have software and services that will facilitate your faxing needs...free software may be hard to find

you may have to go this route:
Live Search: fax to email

or something like this:

eFax has done this for over 10 years. Faxing is analog and the internet is digital. If the powers that be never created modems, we'd be in trouble. Look up eFax, they have a great free service and the pay service (the one that allows you to email to a fax) is fairly cheap and the technology has been around for over a decade.
