Did I just fry my motherboard?

Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to guess. There are many possibilities, and the fact that this happened just now, when you tried a new charger, is most likely just a coincidence. What exactly is there is difficult to find even when you have this computer in front of you. But it is quite impossible to guess anything from a distance.
With any electronics, you start by checking for power, and if everything is OK, you can move on and check all the switches and wires and other contacts and connections.
If they are all in order, you can start checking the electronics.
PS, I've been doing this kind of stuff for over 45 years and I'm a certified physicist-electronics(ist).
Anything is possible, including that something has happened to the processor or some other electronic device. And sometimes we don't know exactly what happened and why it happened that way. It's that simple (or simply so) and you have to accept it.
Even things dies on their own way and on some day.

Thank you for your feedback. I guess it is the time for me to just buy a new laptop as I have used this one for many years.
