computer not wanting to start up

hello this problem just started yesterday my computer only seems to want to start up when it feels like it it only gets to the screen where it does memory check and checks for harddrives i believe it only gets that far b/c the hard drive seems to shut off and then turn back on and it doesn't always only get that far sometimes farther and sometimes it completely loads up and runs fine for awhile but then after awhile i get a blue screen and have to restart could this be due to a failing power supply or a loose connection? or something else?

can be so many things...

a few things u can do:

1. reseat the memory stick
2. run the memtest (can be download from internet)

the best way to diagnostic your own PC is recall what have you done with your PC lately, new software? new hardware? smell anything funny? loud noise? etc...
