Computer Dvd Drvie Virus?

I have a problem with my pc . The dvd drive quit working and the pc is only just a year old i only burned cd in it and one day it stoped.
My device manger says everything is fine.
I looked at HPs web site on anything about it and notta.
I was talking to someone and they told me they tought they read some where theres a virus that will make your DVD fail .
Is this true and if so how do i fix it?
It has power but won't do anythig .
Any help would be great .
MY pc is a HP PAVILION a610n.

Check your drivers. I doubt it's a virus.

Can you see your dvd drive in my computer? Something might be using in the startup menu in msconfig. Disable what you dont need and see what happens
