As the title says, I am building my first computer and I would like advice on the parts to use. I not only want to make sure my parts are compatible but also that I am being cost effective. I really want to get the best system for my cash. I am working with a friend who has built computers before and he suggested this site. I would like to thank anybody in advance who can provide assistance in this matter.
CPU:
Option 1: AMD FX-6300
Option 2: Intel Core i5-4460 Haswell Quad-Core 3.2GHz LGA 1150
For the CPU these are the two options I have. I would like to understand what are the differences between the two and which would be recommended. If you have a better recommendation that is not either of these and within the $100-$200 price range please let me know. I would rather not go above $250 for sure.
Motherboard:
Option 1: ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS AM3+
This is the motherboard I have in mind. Please let me know what the best motherboard will be for this setup.
Video Card:
Option 1: HIS IceQ OC H280QC3G2M Radeon R9 280 3GB
Option 2: EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2765-KR GeForce GTX 760
RAM:
Option 1: Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB
I want 8 gigs of RAM that will work with this setup. Any recommendations?
HDD:
Option 1: Seagate Barracuda 500 GB
Case:
Option 1: NZXT Guardian 921 RB ATX Mid Tower Case, Black 921RB-001-BL
Option 2: Rosewill Dual Fans
I really liked the look of Option 1 for cases. I want to know if all my components could fit into a micro case or if I need a mid-tower. If possible please recommend something that looks like Option 1 but if not no biggie.
Power Supply:
Option 1: XFX Core Edition PRO 550W
I am not sure if this Power Supply will work. I think I might need a 750MW power supply. I was also wondering if it would be better to get a modular power supply.
Optical Drive:
Option 1: Samsung 24x SATA DVD RW
This is everything. Please let me know what works and what doesn't. This is my first time building a computer so please bear with me. Once again, thank you for your help.
