If you already have an Operating System installed, then you've probably got a damaged boot record. You'll need to boot into the Windows XP Recovery Console (if you have XP) and type fixmbr when you've chosen a windows partition.
it now starts and says: "searching for the primary.....etc"
then it says "Not Detected" and goes all lthrough them( slave/ secondary)
tehn it goes to a different screen and sayd:
"Searching for BOOT record from Floppy
Not Found BOOT failure
Insert BOOT diskette in A:"
i have my floppy drive connected to the floppy connector on the mobo, i have the CD-Drive connected to the secondary IDE connector using an IDE cable i took from my old comp, and the HD is connected to the primary IDE connector, using te cable it came with!
If you dont have an operating system on the harddrive you need to get one to get into windows. You need to buy windows xp and put it in the cd-drive of your computer and set the bios to boot off the cd-drive. Then you can install windows xp on your brand new harddrive.
