If using any NT-based OS's (NT 4.0, 2000, XP), then you can go to the syskey app, and then, it will make it so you have to have the disk in on startup. For me, that just takes too much time.
you can get a case that has a door with a lock on it over the power button, that always works good, or on some older cases (havent seen it for a while) there is a keyboard lock on the case that doesnt allow any input (mouse or keyboard) my dad used to use it to keep me from playing video games (the bastard!) lol
