Audio stutters occasionally

I have had a problem with audio occasionally either stuttering/skipping or popping for a while. It happens on iTunes as well as stuff running on my browser. It's hard to test if it is universal since it's a sporadic problem, but I think it covers all audio in general. I am running my audio via firewire through a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 which is set as the primary audio device. I also have a Creative Audigy SE plugged in, but it isn't in use, though when I make it primary the problem still persists.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem? I have seen some stuff with IDE controllers, though I'm not sure if this is my problem and I don't want to start deleting stuff I need. Any help would be great. Thanks!
I'm running windows 7 64 bit.

Addition: seems like when I execute a command like moving files or something is what causes it, meaning a slight spike in CPU usage. I have never had this problem in the past though. I don't have an AMAZING processor but it's AMD Athlon II at 2.9 GHz

Open up task manager and take a look at your processes, screenshot what is active and bring it back here.
With task manager open check your system performance tab.
See how much of the hard drive is moving stuff when you copy back and forth.
Screenshot that as well and post it back so we can see whats going on.
