I'm not a fanboy, I will buy whatever is the best at the time of purchase. Right now that is i7 because I would never use extreme cooling.
Also this is more of a victory for ati than amd, the previous record was held by a 5.2ghz i7 with a cpu score of 9,036 which is better than the 6.6ghz phenom 2's 8,532.
Actually the GPUs have a very meager overclock...it's the CPU clockspeed that is netting the high score. Just look at my wolfdale crossfire runs....CPU frequency makes your SM2 and SM3 scores shoot waaay up.
if i had the cash, i would build an i7 rig
too bad i dont have the cash lol.
but on a second note, if there was a good nvidia chipset for them to use the phenoms on, i think they could do better with 2x 295's
so currently 2 4870x2's are beating out 2x 295's, thats impressive itself.
was just saying that every single benchmark and article you read clearly shows
core i7 out in front.
