I bought a copy of windows 7 oem from newegg and i am planning on installing it Wednesday. This install will be on a completely blank hard drive because i am putting it on a computer i have just built. Will i have any trouble with the installation because it is a oem copy or will it go smoothly. And i already know that it will be locked to the motherboard. Thanks alot.

It should go smoothly. Coming from NewEgg the OEM disk is not tied to any brand so there isnt any issue there.

Only issue would be if you got the upgrade media or the full version. You can still install the upgrade on a blank disk with a little work but it expects to find an OS already on the disk to verify the upgrade eligibility.

You should be just fine man. Boot her up, put the disc in the DVD drive after POST. Let it boot to disc. Smooth sailing from there.

If for some reason it wont boot from the disc (which it really should) you may need to set your BIOS to boot from that drive.

Easy as pie!
