I was trying to reload windows on one of my older computers. It had windows xp home edition and i have a windows xp home edition upgrade..
well I tried to reload windows and it keeps failing about half way through the install. saying that folder "I396" is not on instal CD...
anybody have an idea

Are you trying to install a full version off a upgrade cd ?
Is the disk scrached ?

Im installing the upgrade cd
I used the same cd on my friends desktop about 2 weeks ago. and everything went smoothly... but it doesnt want to work on my old computer
NO, the cd is in perfect condition

maybe its the computer's cd-rom drive.

do you know the specs of it? Brand name, speed, etc.
