Default vista to xp

if i wanna get rid of vista and put on xp can i just do it like an upgrade from home to pro? where all it does is change the os and doesn't touch the files. cause i have a ton of files i dont' wanna have to back up and such and if i could just put xp on that would make things a lot easier.

No. Vista is a newer OS and will not allowed to be downgraded. Just like XP wont allow you to go daown to Windows 2000 or 98. Only option is to format and re-install
